How to Score Points
The following information explains how a golfer scores points in one of the golf competitions. The following scoring method is applied to all ten of the tournaments, only the points will change depending on whether the tournament is a Major or European event.
For example, `The Burns Challenge` is a major competition contested by the top fifteen players in the world. On completion the competition finishes as follows:

Notes:
- In the above example the first two players tied on the same score. Tiger Woods won the play-off therefore he scored the 100pts for first position with Vijay Singh getting 90pts for second
- Both Ernie Els and Davis Love III scored 261 and share third place. They both score 80pts (third place points) each.
- Third place was shared between two players resulting in no fourth place points being awarded. Jim Furyck finished fifth in the tournament and secured 60pts.
- Eighth place is a tie between seven players. The eighth position points (50pts) is therefore scored by all players finishing eighth.
- The next finishing position is fifteenth and Nick Price scores 30pts for finishing in this position.
